BOOK REVIEW: The Wishing Season by Denise Hunter

This is the first book I’ve read by Denise Hunter, but it won’t be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Ms. Hunter has crafted a story with an interesting plot: main characters, PJ and Cole, must share a house, which is the prize for an unusual contest being held in the small town of Chapel Springs, for one year. PJ wants to develop the house into a restaurant and Bed and Breakfast, while Cole wants to make it a home for foster kids who have aged out of the system but still have no where to go. Let the conflicts begin!

Ms. Hunter has developed her characters with deep emotions and tragic pasts. She does a great job of connecting the readers to the characters, drawing them in with¬†understanding and compassion. Regardless of our own past circumstances, we can relate to PJ and Cole’s feelings.

PJ cooks some fantastic sounding dishes – I just wish Ms. Hunter had included them in the book!

This is a book that you will definitely enjoy reading!
